Get back to the basics – and back to the beach! TMRS City Correspondents and Administrative Personnel are invited to two days of comprehensive training at the beautiful Omni Corpus Christi Hotel, located at 900 North Shoreline Boulevard, in the downtown Marina District.
This is your chance to learn all about TMRS – the plan provisions, how to administer it for employees, what your city options are, and changes TMRS is undergoing to keep your retirement system strong. After a Tuesday evening reception, the first full class day will start Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. That evening we will take a boat ride across Corpus Christi Bay to dinner at the Texas State Aquarium. Thursday, September 4 will feature half a day of classes.
This year will also feature an expanded version of the City Services Suite to provide one-on-one counseling and plan rate projections. The Suite will be open throughout the day Wednesday and Thursday.
The cost for registration is $125. Your seminar registration fee covers the courses and presentations, Tuesday evening reception, Wednesday boat ride and dinner at the Aquarium, breakfasts both days, lunch on Wednesday, and snacks.
Reserve your hotel room as soon as possible; to ensure that you receive the TMRS Annual Seminar group rate, you must make your reservation by Monday August 11, 5:00 p.m. The group rate at the Omni is $85 for single rooms and $125 for doubles (government rate). Call 800-THE-OMNI, and be sure to mention the group rate for the TMRS Annual Seminar. The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the Corpus Christi International Airport and complimentary covered parking.
CPE credits will be granted to attendees, upon request.
PLEASE NOTE: The main purpose of this seminar is to provide administrative training and information about TMRS to city correspondents and other administrators. In the past, we provided a dual-track program, but this year’s seminar is focused on training. While finance officers and other city officials are certainly welcome at this seminar, they may find the seminar we will be holding in Austin in March 2009 more helpful. That seminar will focus heavily on actuarial, finance, investments, and legislative issues.
Send in your registration today.
We look forward to seeing you on Corpus Christi Bay in early September!
