TMRS March Seminar
"Building a Foundation for the Future"
TMRS staff and pension experts met with cityfinance staff, City Managers, and other city officials March 1 – 3 at the Hyatt Regency Austin. The first TMRS Seminar on Funding, Investments, and Legislation featured a day and half of programming directly related to cities' TMRS benefit programs.
Sessions included an outlook on TMRS investments in the current economy, a presentation by consulting actuaries GRS, a panel comprised of employee and city representatives, up-to-date information on important TMRS legislation in the current session of the Texas Legislature, and discussion of TMRS programs in the near and long term.
Richard McElreath, Chair of the Pension Review Board, was the keynote speaker on Monday morning. Representative Vicki Truitt, Chair of the House Committee on Pensions, Investments, and Financial Services, gave an overview of the work of the Texas Legislature.
