The Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) was formed by the Texas legislature in 1947 to provide retirement, disability, and death benefits for municipal employees who ensure the welfare of Texas communities. Today, TMRS has almost 950 participating cities and serves more than 260,000 members, retirees, and their beneficiaries.
TMRS is recognized as an example of fiduciary excellence and its management of more than $44 billion of Trust Fund assets. By investing those assets, TMRS’ investment staff help create retirement security for generations of Texans.
