The Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) was formed by the Texas legislature in 1947 to provide retirement, disability, and death benefits for municipal employees who ensure the welfare of Texas communities. Today, TMRS has almost 950 participating cities and serves more than 225,000 members, retirees, and their beneficiaries living.
TMRS is recognized as an example of fiduciary excellence and its management of more than $40 billion of Trust Fund assts. By investing those assets, TMRS’ investment staff help create retirement security for generations of Texans. TMRS’ investment team is passionate about safeguarding the dignity and financial independence of Texas’ public servants, who have dedicated their lives to the service of their communities, through the generation of a secure lifetime monthly retirement benefit.
