Congratulations to Our 2026 City of Excellence Winners
Sep 9, 2026
The 2026 City of Excellence winners were announced and recognized on July 30 at the City Training Conference.
The applications showcased impressive and meaningful efforts from cities across the state, each demonstrating creative ways to highlight the importance of TMRS benefits. The review process made us incredibly proud and also presented a challenge because so many submissions reflected strong commitment to educating and assisting your employees with TMRS.
Ultimately, two cities were named the 2026 City of Excellence winners: the City of Keene was the Small City winner and the City of McAllen was the Large City winner.
In addition to utilizing all TMRS resources and providing incredible outreach and education, these cities showed unmatched success in significantly reducing the number of members missing beneficiary designations. This is an impressive achievement and is one of the most important things a city can do for their employees.
Honorable mention was also awarded to both the City of Plano and the City of Edinburg for their outstanding efforts.
We appreciate all the cities that applied, and look forward to next year's ceremony!
