Tom Masthay
Chief Investment Officer
Tom Masthay was promoted to CIO in December of 2025. Masthay joined TMRS in 2015 as Director of Real Assets and has since held the roles of Director of Private Equity and Deputy Chief Investment Officer. Prior to TMRS, he held investment roles for NextEra Energy and Kentucky Retirement System and began his career as a bank auditor.
Masthay received an BBA and MBA in Finance from the University of Kentucky. Tom holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alternative Financial Analyst (CAIA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designations, is a Six Sigma Greenbelt, and has been published in the Journal of Private Equity.
