I have been employed with the City of Harlingen for over 27 years. It was a dream of mine to be a police officer and I am now a Deputy Chief with our department.

My most memorable moment was receiving a postcard [from TMRS] on my 20 year anniversary. I kept the card (Somewhere in my home) as a keepsake, reminding me not only of my service time but as a reminder that if I chose to leave I had some money in my pocket for future endeavors. This security is a benefit that many private companies do not provide.

Hey just a few words from a normal (at least semi-normal) guy who worked the job of his dreams (police officer and on to police chief).

Those 40 years were mostly terrific and the retirement I am now able to enjoy thanks to TMRS and the cities I worked. In retirement I’m able to enjoy a great life and not worry about finances.

I began working for the City of Arlington in 1955. I was glad to be employed when the City of Arlington became a member of the TMRS. I retired in 1988 and it is very comforting to know that I have received a monthly income from the TMRS all these years and will continue to receive it for the rest of my life

TMRS is one of the very best things a city can do for its' employees.

I retired this year with widow benefits and TMRS has helped me greatly through the retirement process. I'm grateful and thankful for all that answered my questions and helped me get the correct paperwork filed.

I think it is one of the best managed and strongest retirement systems in the country. From day one of my retirement I have not had a problem. My money is always in the bank on the last working day of the month. I had one question about the system shortly after I retired. I called your office and they quickly answered my question. Thanks for doing a great job.

I am a retired female firefighter from the City of Farmers Branch... Over the last decade of my career I saw many fire departments and Cities struggle that were not part of the TMRS... I’m not sure what it entails to keep TMRS on top but apparently you do and I cannot thank you enough!

Good morning AND Happy New Year! Starting employment with the City of Huntsville in (September), 2003 at the ripe old age of 47 - not quite 20 years ago, I never realized how much having a retirement account would impact my life and well-being until almost 20 years later...

TMRS has been a part of my life for about 45 years. I started with the City of Beaumont contributing to TMRS when I was about 29 years old. I made contributions until I retired in 2010. Since then I have received payments every month... At times, it was difficult to see my payments going into TMRS each paycheck, but since retirement, I have been thankful for TMRS retirement checks.

A check faithfully and on time for the rest of my life. Not too shabby.

Just would like to thank TMRS. I would not know what I would have done without them. It has been a blessing, thanks so much.

You just can't beat a defined benefit pension!

TMRS is perhaps the best retirement system in the United States. How lucky we are.

Due to TMRS and my career, I enjoy a financially stable retirement, providing me with financial independence. I see people my age (77) who still have to work to supplement their meager Social Security benefits. That can be a very difficult, if not impossible task.

After 28 years of hard labor in Texas, TMRS was the rainbow at the end… Retired in 2011 and through thick and thin, TMRS has been there.

I could not feel like I am in better hands. Thanks to TMRS now and forever.
